Q. What are the system
requirements for the programs?
A. A Pentium PC (or better) with Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, Windows XP, Vista 32/64, and Windows 7 32/64. Additional hardware requirements include a VGA
Monitor, a VGA graphics card and a Windows compatible mouse. 128 MB of extended

Q. Can the CAD Zone's
products be run on a network?
A. Your diagrams may be saved to a common
network drive so everyone has access to them. However CAD Zone diagram programs
are not meant to be run on a network, and to do so violates the program's
licensing agreement. By law, you must purchase one copy per PC you will be
installing it on. The CAD Zone does offer a very generous price discount for
multiple copy purchases of all of our programs. Please contact a sales
representative at The CAD Zone for any of your purchasing questions.

Q. Is a Demo disk or
Evaluation copy of the program available?
A. Rather than offering a Demo Disk
(which are little more than slide shows or a slick marketing tool showing only
the best features of the program) The CAD Zone offers the entire program,
including all the training tools, on a 30-day evaluation basis. Every
evaluation copy includes the same materials found in a complete purchased
product including: the software, a complete User's Manual with illustrated
tutorials, and free technical support. This allows you to find out for
yourself, risk-free how the program will work for you and your department. The
evaluation copy of the program allows you to open and save a diagram for 10
sessions. After the tenth session the program reverts back to a "no-save"
evaluation version. Only the Save feature is deactivated in evaluation mode,
all the other commands can still be used.

Q. Whenever
I try to load a drawing format other than .CZD all that loads is a blank screen
labeled "Untitled".
A. You need to set the file extensions in
Windows to read hidden file extensions.
Right-mouse click the Start button and select Explore from the pop-up menu.
When the Program Screen appears, select the Tools Pull-down menu and choose the
"Folder Options" feature.
When the Folder Options dialog box appears, select the View tab and look in the
Advanced Settings window.
Set the following options in the Advance Settings window:

Next, open the diagram Program and select the Open command from the File
pull-down menu.
Choose the File of Type for the file that you are loading.

Diagram program.

Q. How
do I find and load up a back-up (.BAK) file?
A. Once you select the Save As command
and save a drawing as a .CZD, Version 8.0 automatically makes a backup copy of
your file every 5 minutes. If your program crashes, and you lose a diagram that
you have been working on, you can load up the .BAK (backup) file and rescue
your work.
To load up a backup file:
Select the Open command from the File pull-down menu.
Click the down arrow on the "files of type" field, and choose the
.BAK extension from the drop-down menu.
Navigate to the folder where your .CZD file was saved to and select your file
with the .BAK extension (example: test.bak).
Once the diagram loads, select "Save As" from the File Pull-down menu
and re-save the drawing as a .CZD file.

Q. My
drawing looks fine on the screen, but when I print it all of the text is
rotated.
A. Make sure that you have the most
recent printer drivers loaded from your printer manufacturer. Many times
outdated drivers are the reason behind strange print outputs. Refer to the
Links page for direct links to some of the most popular Printer's web sites.
Once the newest printer drivers are loaded into your system, open a drawing and
select the Print command from the File pull-down menu.
On the Print dialog box checkmark the "Text rotate adjust" option,
located in the lower left-hand corner of the dialog box.
Print the Diagram. The text should now print at the correct rotation.

Q. I
can't import files from AutoCAD.
A. You may be trying to import AutoCAD
R14 or 2000 files into an earlier version of The Diagram Program. Earlier
releases of The Diagram Program only read AutoCAD R13 (or lower ) in .DXF file
format.
You will need to upgrade to the new Version 8.0 of the Diagram Program. Version
8.0 supports all AutoCAD .DXF and .DWG file formats up to AutoCAD Release 2000.
Call (800) 641-9077 to upgrade to the new version 8.0 of The Diagram Program to
fix this problem. Upgrade copies are available at a reduced price for existing
CAD Zone customers.

Q. Can
I export my diagram to a PDF format?
A. Yes! Version 8.0 of the Diagram
Program includes a PDF Writer option that can be installed when you install the
program from the installation CD-ROM. With the PDF option installed load the
diagram that you wish to convert to PDF on the screen:
Select the Print command from the File pull-down menu.
On the Print dialog box click the Setup button.
Choose the Acrobat PDF Writer driver from the Name field drop-down menu and
click the OK button.
The set-up dialog closes and returns you to the Print dialog box. Make sure the
drawing is centered on the page and make any adjustments to the print preview
that you want (orientation, etc)
Double-check the Printer/Page size field at the very top of the Dialog Box to
verify that the PDF Writer is selected.
If the PDF writer is selected, click the Print button. Click the Yes button on
the Verification dialog box that appears taking note of the file path where the
PDF will be saved.
Click the Save button on the Save PDF as File dialog box. If you would like you
can change the file path and file name in this dialog before saving the file.
Locate the saved PDF and load it up in the desired viewer.

Q. Can
I load digital images into my Diagram Program drawings?
A. Yes! Use the Import Images command
found on the File pull-down menu. It will allow you to import digital images in
.BMP, .JPG, or .WMF formats.
To import an image:
Choose the Import Images command from the File pull-down menu.
Click (or snap) to place two diagonal points in the diagram where you want to
place the image.
A dialog box appears that allows you to select the desired image file. Using
standard Windows methods, select the proper drive and folder, and then select
the desired image file.
The image is inserted into the diagram at the location specified earlier.
Once the image is loaded it can be printed out along with the rest of the
diagram or you can trace over the top of it using the various drawing commands
in the program.
Refer to the "Experts Corner" documents located in your Learning
Center (found on the Help menu) for additional documents dealing with digital
and scanned images.

Q. When
I open the Symbol Manager the symbols all look like they are messed up or I
only see a symbol description with no symbol preview icon.
A. Close the diagram program and open
your Windows Explorer (My Computer).
Navigate to the diagram programs symbol directory and delete the Images folder
for the category of symbols that is corrupted. For example, if the symbol
group in Crime Zone for the Home-Tables were corrupted, then you would navigate
to the C:\Program Files\CAD Zone\Crime Zone 8\Symbols
02_Crime\02_Home\01_Tables folder and delete the Images folder.
Restart Crash Zone or Crime Zone and have them open the symbols group that has
problems. It should regenerate the Images Folder and build new Images for
each Symbol.
