With Map Designer, you can take a laptop to any physical location and manually capture the Latitude and Longitude for that record. This is valuable for addresses that cannot be found by the Verify Addresses procedure, you can simply go to the location and capture the coordinates using the GPS receiver.
You also may want to create records that do not represent an actual building, such as the entrance to a residential neighborhood or a park. For this type of location, you can use the Verify Latitude & Longitude command to add the coordinate data to First Look Pro so it can be located on the map.

Follow these steps to capture or manually enter the Latitude and Longitude values for a location:
Step 1) Select "Verify Latitude / Longitude" from the File menu.
Here you are able to view all of your First Look Pro Occupancies based on whether they already have Latitude and Longitude coordinates, or not. The image below shows the records from the sample data for the Beaverton FD.

Step 2) Click the "Swap List" button to change the view to show only Addresses that do not have Latitude and Longitude coordinates.
Step 3) In either of these modes you can "Capture" Latitude & Longitude coordinates if you are at the location and your GPS is enabled. Alternatively, if you received the coordinates from some other source, you can manually type them in.
Step 4) Upon pressing the Capture button, the address and coordinate information appear on the right, and the Map automatically centers on the address so that you can verify that the Latitude & Longitude are correct for that particular address.
Step 5) If the information is accurate, simply press "SAVE" and the Latitude & Longitude data is added to the First Look Pro record. The coordinate data will appear in the display below, and the "Address Verified" checkbox will become selected.

Step 6) After capturing the Latitude and Longitude values for a record, press the "Map It" button, to verify that the coordinates represent the true location of the address.
Note, in order to use either the Capture or Manual Enter feature of Map Designer, there must already be a record in First Look Pro for that location. Create your records in First Look Pro first, use the Verify Addresses command to automatically get as much latitude and longitude data as possible, then use Verify Latitude/Longitude to manually obtain the coordinate data for any remaining records.
