Before you can use First Look Pro Map, you must create records for the different buildings in your area, and include the latitude and longitude values for each location. You must have at least one record in the First Look Pro data base that contains latitude and longitude information, or your map data will not display. You may choose to type in the information using First Look Pro’s Edit Mode, although this is not very practical since you may have hundreds or even thousands of records you want to include.
The fastest way to bring records into First Look Pro is by using the separate Data Importer utility. This utility allows you to import data from standard database formats such as .csv, and .ascii. You must install the Data Importer separately from First Look Pro. It is included on the First Look Pro installation CD. Instructions on how to use the data importer are included in the Data Importer’s electronic Help.
You should be able to obtain a database from your city or county 911 dispatch center, or from tax records. The Data Importer allows you to quickly bring this address information into First Look Pro and create new records for each occupancy in the database. Once the records are created, you can use the First Look Pro Verify Addresses command to check each address for accuracy and automatically insert the latitude and longitude values.
