Setting Up First Look Pro 4 User Permissions

First Look Pro 4 stores the databases and the configuration files in the ‘Documents and Settings\All Users’ profile.

The ‘All Users’ profile is accessible to users who have machine ‘Power user’ or higher permissions.  In Windows XP the Standard User is also a “Power User’.  On a stand-alone machine, the created machine users by default will have permissions to the ‘All Users’ directories.  To check the permission of the users, go to the Control Panel and then open the Users Accounts.

Clicking properties will allow you to change the permissions for excising users.

Setting the user to Standard User will give the user permissions to access the ‘All Users’ directories.  If you choose the ‘Other’ option, you need to give the user ‘Power User’ or ‘Administrator’ in order for them to have access to the ‘All Users’ directories.

In a domain environment, where domain users are not given specific machine permissions, the ‘All Users’ director is not accessible by default.  To make the ‘All Users’ directories accessible to domain users, simply login as the machine administrator or as a user that has machine administrator privileges and open the ‘Documents and Settings folder’ that is at the root of the C drive.

Set the permissions to allow ‘FULL CONTROL’ for Domain Users.  This will then allow the Domain Users to access the ‘All Users’ directories without having to have any machine specific user permissions set.
