Initial Client Database

The next screens prompt you to choose where to obtain the First Look Pro database for this Client. If this computer has access to your Master over a network, select “Over my network.”  If there is no network access, select “From a backup.” If you select the Backup method, you are then prompted to browse to the location of that First Look Pro database backup, which may be on a CD or a flash drive (thumb drive) portable storage device.

If your Client and Master computers are networked together, select the Network option for obtaining your First Look Pro data. The next screen will search your network and locate any First Look Pro Masters that this Client can access. Normally, there will only be one Master shown, so you can just click “Get data from this master.” If there is more than one, click on the name of the computer on the left that you want to be the Master for this client and then click “Get data from this master.” Depending on how many records you are replicating from the Master, this process can take a few minutes.

This causes the Master you chose to be replicated to this Client installation of First Look Pro so they are exactly the same. It also sets this Client up so you can synchronize data between it and the Master using the Synchronization feature on the Database Tools menu of First Look Pro 4.

When the records have all been replicated, the “Get Data” button will change to say “Import Complete click Next to Continue.”  Click the Next button to complete the Set Up process.

If you do not set up a Client properly, or you wish to start over with completely new data from the Master, you can choose the Replicate option from the Synchronization feature.
