New Setup

If you have never used First Look Pro before, select New Master Installation. First Look Pro 4 will be installed on your computer with a sample database of just a couple records. These records are there so you can see how First Look Pro will look as you enter your own data. Feel free to go into Edit Mode and delete them when you’re ready to get started entering your actual data.

The next screen prompts you to enter a Department Name that First Look Pro will use to separate your department’s records from those of any mutual aid departments you set up. This name can be up to 50 characters long and can contain spaces.

The final Set Up screen confirms how First Look Pro 4 will be configured on this computer, based on the choices you have made so far. When you choose to set up a Master database, it is recommended that you schedule automatic backups of the database. Click the “Set Backup Schedule” button to schedule backups of the database. Database backups and synchronization can also be scheduled from the Database Tools in First Look Pro 4.

Once the Master Set Up is complete, launch First Look Pro and take a look at your database. If you did an Upgrade from First Look Pro Version 3, you should see all your records, complete with diagrams and images. If some of your attachments did not convert properly to Version 4, refer to the earlier section on Upgrading Your Database for more information.
