Verify Addresses

You can use the Verify Addresses service to compare all the addresses that you have entered in your records with a U.S. Postal Service database.  It’s an efficient way to flag invalid addresses, duplicate records, misspelled addresses, and other errors.

Verify Addresses is a subscription service provided by CAD Zone, but First Look Pro users are given a free one-time trial use of the service. Note also that you get a free trial with every copy of First Look Pro, so if you have several copies, you get several free uses of the service.

Note: The database is returned to you with suspect records flagged so you can manually verify them.

When you use the Verify Address command, you must have a valid internet connection. Your database is uploaded to the CAD Zone web server where your addresses are checked against millions of valid addresses in the US Postal Service’s database.  Your data is returned to you with any questionable records flagged so you can correct any errors.

Records that can not be verified (matched with the US Postal database) will be displayed with one of these codes:

N - No match

D - duplicate record found

M - Multi-match, meaning there is more than one address on this street that is the same. You may need to verify the direction, i.e. North or South.

Once you have completed the Verify Addresses process, you can then correct any errors and eliminate duplicates. Some addresses may be returned as questionable because they were not found in the US Postal master database, but they are still valid addresses. This could be the case if a physical location does not have a mail receptacle. You may want to drive to these locations and verify those addresses manually. Once verified, you can mark them as having been checked.

If you are not able to connect to The CAD Zone’s server, it may be because your firewall is not allowing outside communications. The Verify Address command uses TCP/IP port 150.  You may need to modify your firewall to allow this.

If you have trouble completing the Verify Addresses command, or if you cannot connect to The CAD Zone’s server, please contact us at 800-641-9077 or 503-641-0334.
