· Edit Mode vs. View Mode

First Look Pro has two modes of operation:  View Mode and Edit Mode.  The screen looks different, and different tools and menu items are available to you depending on which mode you’re in.

The program always starts in View Mode, but you can switch to Edit Mode by choosing Switch to Edit Mode from the File menu, unless you have a user account that doesn’t allow you to switch to Edit Mode.   You can switch back to View Mode by choosing Switch to View Mode from the same menu.

View Mode:  Allows you to view and print records, but does not allow you to modify records in any way. View Mode is designed to make it easy to view all the information contained in a record.  It is ideal for use on a mobile computer in your vehicle, where you need to find information fast but aren’t going to be making changes.

Edit Mode:  Allows you to create a new record or edit an existing one.   It also allows you to attach files like diagrams, images, photos, and tactical plans to a record.  Additionally, tools for managing the First Look Pro database are only available in Edit Mode.  Text that appears in green in Edit Mode is editable.
